CGIL Seminar: "The DairyBio Project"

Dr. Jennie Pryce, a Principal Research Scientist from Agriculture Victoria and La Trobe University in Australia, will present a Special CGIL Seminar tomorrow, Thursday, December 13th. The seminar will begin at 2:30 pm in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building. The title of the presentation is: "The DairyBio Project".

ABSc Christimas Party

Gingerbread House Competition

The Animal Biosciences Graduate Student Council is pleased to announce the First Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest! Sign up your team and come show off your architecture and decorating skills in the ANNU Lobby to win a gift card to The Fifth.  FREE hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be available. Teams will be provided with a standard gingerbread house set including frosting and candy. If you would like additional items to make your gingerbread house stand out you may bring them. Decorating is between 1-3pm with voting from 3-4pm.

ABSc Chili Cook-Off

The 4th Annual ABSc (10 years of APS before that!) United Way Chili Cook-Off is Thursday Nov 29. We have 6 Chili contestants (including several past winners) - there will be 5 beef chilis to sample as well as 1 vegetarian. The Chili Cook-Off will be held in ANNU110 from noon - 1:30 pm. $6 will enable you to sample and vote for as many of the chilis as you would like,  a variety of breads and butter and a cold drink.

CCSAW Student Chapter Research Webinar: Dr. Kaitlin Wurtz

Dr. Kaitlin Wurtz will be presenting her research on aggression in group-housed pigs and potential solutions to this important animal welfare issue.  Dr. Wurtz is a research associate at Michigan State University where she works jointly with the Animal Behavior and Welfare Group and the Animal Breeding and Genetics group. Her ongoing research is assessing the current state of automated behavioral phenotyping using image analysis technology in order to improve the welfare of group-housed pigs. Dr.
