We are happy to have Dr. Kerry Houlahan, from True North Genetics visiting us on Friday, February 27th, 2026. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST in ANNU141 and on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Breeding to Bacon: The Science Behind the System.” 

 

Speaker Biography:  Dr. Kerry Houlahan is Director of Genetics, Research & Development at True North Genetics, where she leads genomic evaluation and breeding strategies for commercial swine populations. She earned her Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the University of Guelph, specializing in quantitative genetics and genomic selection. Dr. Houlahan’s work bridges foundational genetic research and real-world production systems, integrating complex genomic data into practical breeding objectives that drive efficiency, meat quality, and long-term system sustainability.
