Just a quick reminder that the EDI Survey will be closing this Friday, May 28th (please check your email for links and access codes). If you haven't completed it yet we are hoping you can find a few minutes (~10 minutes) to complete the survey as it will provide the EDI committee with valuable insights moving forward. Brandon Van Soest, a PhD candidate working with Dr. Trevor DeVries, has been awarded the Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) doctoral scholarship. Valued at $105,000 over 3 years, the scholarship will support Von Soest while he is carrying out research into the nutritional management of robot-milked cows. More information about Brandon and his research can be found on page 41 of the May 2021 issue of Milk Producer.
The Animal Biosciences Graduate Student Council invites you to participate in a FREE Spring Hobbie Series. This event will consist of three guided workshops, each building off the last activity. However, you may choose to attend only the ones that interest you!

ABSc would like to extend a warm welcome to Stephanie Kears, our newest staff colleague in the admin team. Stephanie graduated at the University of Waterloo and had a number of very successful co-op terms, including some in an university environment at UofWaterloo. She also worked outside the university. With the experience and skills that she has accumulated in her previous roles, with her positive attitude, initiative and very good work ethics, she will be a great addition to our team.

Congratulations to MSc and CCSAW student Renee Garant who placed 2nd out of 48 research talks at the 2021 Ontario Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution Colloquium (OE3C).

Dr. Kate Shoveller, a leading animal nutrionist and Associate Professor in ABSc, was recently featured in the Toronto Star where she provided some insight on the growing trend of individualized pet diets.
