Bruna Mion, a PhD candidate working with Dr. Eduardo Ribiero, was runner-up at the ANCC 2022 Graduate Student Competition held May 10-12 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In the 3-minute thesis style competition, Bruna presented her work on the relationship between trace mineral source and dairy cow performance.
Dr. Jennifer Ellis, an Assistant Professor in Animal Systems Modelling, was recently featured in the digital magazine Dairy Global. Ellis discussed her team's innovative approach to the development of modelling strategies that when implemented, will hopefully contribute to precision feeding strategies and lead to improvements in cow performance.
Dr. Nienke van Staavern has been selected by the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) panel as the joint winner of the UFAW Early Career Animal Welfare Research of the Year award for her work on improving the lives of livestock animals. van Staavern came to ABSc after completing her PhD in Ireland and currently works as a Sr. Research Associate and Project Manager with the CGIL (Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock) and CCSAW (Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare).
