Good morning CGIL,
This week we are happy to have Dr. Troy Rowan, an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee, presenting for us on Friday, March 7th, 2025. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Using molecular phenotypes to understand forage-based cow efficiency”
Speaker Bio: Troy Rowan is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at the University of Tennessee’s Knoxville campus. Troy grew up on a Charolais cattle ranch in Iowa and he’s remained engaged with the beef industry since. At Tennessee, his research program uses genomics to understand and predict economically important traits in beef cattle. His group’s work is particularly interested in developing novel indicators for cow efficiency adaptability, as well as the mechanisms underlying heterosis.
